1975

With a passion and education for safeguarding homes, Mike Ockelford commences a career in intruder alarms at Chubb Security.

1985

Mike became a security surveyor under the supervision of senior surveyor Ronnie Abbott at Arlescourt Security. Mike was fortunate to have worked with Bob Arrowsmith, who was engineering manager. Mike and Bob became close working collages, so it was somewhat inevitable that their security paths would cross again.

1988

Mike establishes Colt Alarms, a company who specialise in intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems for both domestic and commercial properties. Operating throughout Essex, London and the South East, Colt Alarms develop a portfolio of satisfied customers with a track record for delivering outstanding alarm systems.

1991

Bob Arrowsmith of Arrow Alarms merges with Colt Alarms to increase the breadth of security options available to customers. When Bob joined Colt Alarms, bringing not only his company Arrow Alarms onboard, but his past knowledge and experience in engineering. This laid the foundations for growth to where Colt Security are today

1992

Our credibility and reputation continues to grow due to listing with local constabulary, accreditation with NACOSS and obtaining ISO 9002 Quality Assurance Certification.

1998

Colt Alarms continues to diversify its offer to customers including CCTV and Access Control. This increase in offer is also reflected in a name change as Colt Alarms becomes Colt Security Systems.

2018

Matt Ockelford, son of company founder Mike, joins Colt Security Systems. Keeping the strong family tradition, Matt learns first-hand the importance of delivering outstanding products with exceptional customer satisfaction.

2021

Affiliation with Constructionline & Cyber Essentials. Further validating the quality of our home and business security systems and offering our customers that additional level of cover.
